How to Make Charcoal from Bamboo

Here we present you the general process of a continuous bamboo charcoal making machine making charcoal from bamboo. Or you can visit YouTube for a 3D video presentation.

1. Pretreatment: Use a dryer and crusher to ensure bamboo waste is fit for feeding requirements (moisture≤15%, size≤20mm).
2. Feeding: Transport small pieces of bamboo into the biochar reactor by the belt conveyor. as shown in the video below.

3. Pyrolysis: Heat the pyrolysis reactor for 60-90 minutes. In the hypoxic reactor, organic elements in bamboo undergo themal decomposition, forming charcoal within 15-25 minutes. The process mainly involves three steps:

  • Step 1- Dehydrate: Remove internal water;
  • Step 2- Demethylation: Remove H2、CH4、C2H6、CO and other mixed gases. Some of the combustible gases, after undergoing cyclone dust removal, water seal purification, and condensation, are recycled back into the combustion chamber to heat the main furnace.
  • Step 3- Volatile release: Remove MeOH, C2H4, tar, and other substances.
4. Cooling collection: Bamboo charcoal is safely discharged from the reactor through the water-cooled screw automatic discharger, with a temperature below 45%.
5. Exhaust gas treatment: Flue gas produced after syngas recycling undergoes multiple dedusting processes (cyclone dedusting, water spray, ceramic ring absorption, and defogging plate), meeting the EU emission standard.
