Rice hull carbonizer is key to transforming rice husks into high-quality charcoal. Rice hull biochar boasts versatile applications, particularly gaining popularity in the agricultural sector. Whether you’re dealing with a surplus of rice hulls or exploring options for fertilizers and soil improvement, this machine is a good choice. Beston Group can offer you customized solutions to meet your specific needs.
What Is Rice Hull Carbonizer?
A rice hull charcoal making machine is designed to convert rice hulls into charcoal through carbonization process (heating rice hulls at high temperatures with low oxygen). Typically, each kg of milled white rice results in roughly 0.28 kg of rice husk waste during milling. The machine serves as a sustainable and eco-friendly solution for managing these waste, as it transforms these waste into a valuable resource.
Note: Rice hull, also called rice husk. So the rice hull carbonizer is also called rice husk charcoal making machine, rice husk charcoal machine, etc.
How to Make Carbonized Rice Hull? – Carbonization Reaction
The following text provides a detailed description of the carbonization reaction. Additionally, you can watch the YouTube video below, which comprehensively demonstrates how to carbonize rice hull with a BST-05 Pro rice hull carbonizer.
01 Drying – 150℃
At this stage, in the inner barrel of the carbonization furnace, the external and internal moisture of the rice husks are evaporated by the heat supplier from the outside, and the shape of the rice husks will not change at this time.
02 Endothermic pyrolysis – 220-270℃
At this stage, the rice hulls begin to decompose and release gaseous products (such as CQ, CO2, H2S, etc.), and the chemical composition of the rice hulls begins to change.
03 Carbonization – 270-400℃
At this stage, a large amount of volatiles are precipitated from the rice hulls, and almost all the products such as methanol, and ethylene precipitated in the carbonization process are produced in this stage. The residual solid product obtained is charcoal.
Benefits of Carbonized Rice Hull
Carbonized rice hull is also called rice hull charcoal, rice hull biochar, rice husk charcoal, rice husk biochar, etc. It has a wide range of applications in various industries. Please see the following.
Serve as soil amendment: The porous and lightweight nature of carbonized rice hull enables it to enhance soil aeration, drainage, and water retention. This contributes to preventing waterlogging, drought, and soil compaction, and promotes healthy root development in plants. Carbonized rice hulls contain P, K, Ca, and Mg. These nutrients gradually release into the soil, providing essential nourishment for plant growth.
Act as weed suppressant: When carbonized rice hulls are used as mulch, they form a protective layer, blocking sunlight and suppressing weed growth, thereby promoting the growth and development of plants.
Besides its application in agriculture, rice husk charcoal’s versatility and eco-friendliness make it a valuable resource in multiple industries and applications, including:
- BBQ charcoal;
- shisha charcoal;
- industrial fuel;
- insulation material;
- animal feed additive;
- carbon sequestration and carbon credits;
- etc.

Rice Hull Carbonizer Design
Our rice hull carbonization machine consists of a drying system, feeding system, carbonization system, cooling system, biogas recycling system, dedusting system, wastewater purification equipment, and collection system for wood vinegar and tar.
Drying system: The dryer reduces the moisture content of rice hull, improving energy utilization and carbonization efficiency.
Feeding system: The large inclination belt conveyor conveys materials to the dryer and the carbonization furnace. The feeding system can be designed for automation to enhance operational efficiency and save labor costs.
Carbonization system: The carbonization system is where the pyrolysis reaction takes place. It is composed of facilitates the conversion of rice hulls into charcoal through controlled heating in an oxygen-limited environment. This crucial component ensures the production of high-quality charcoal.
Cooling system: The water-cooled spiral slag cooling system effectively reduces the temperature of charcoal, preserving its integrity and quality. Additionally, it enhances the safety of the production process by safely removing impurities from the charcoal.
Dedusting system: The dedusting system is responsible for removing particulate matter and dust generated during the carbonization process, minimizes the environmental impact of the carbonization process.
Market Potential of Invest Rice Hull Carbonizer Business
Rice serves as a staple for over half of the global population. China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Myanmar stand as the world’s foremost producers of rice. In these nations, rice hulls are abundant and low-cost. Therefore, this makes the rice husk carbonization business more competitive in the market.
The global focus on environmental sustainability has been steadily increasing, making biomass energy a highly coveted sector. Rice husk pellets, as a green and clean alternative energy source, are in high demand in the market. Moveover, government support for energy conservation and environmental protection further provides substantial opportunities for the growth of this industry.
