As waste tires contain a large number of carbon, hydrogen and other elements with high calorific value, the final products from waste tire pyrolysis are gas, liquid oil and carbon black. The pyrolysis gas mainly includes carbon monoxide, hydrogen, nitrogen, a small amount of methane, ethane and hydrogen sulfide. The calorific value of the pyrolysis gas is equivalent to natural gas, which can be used as fuel material. The pyrolysis oil can be also used as fuel or raw material for distillation to produce high-quality gasoline. Several effective ways of waste tire pyrolysis
Preparation of liquid fuels
The waste tires are broken into small particles with diameter of 100mm by the tyre shredding machine, and feed the particles into pyrolysis reactor without removing the steel wires. The pyrolysis reactor is outside heating type, which makes use of generated gas from the external heating with a screw feeder reaction tube, and then makes the rubber blocks pyrolysis. Then make use of decompression method to exclude the oil and gas rapidly. As the spiral feed reaction tube is an external heating of the closed device, the process is pollution-free. Remove the sulfur from the oil or add antioxidants to make the oil used as fuel oil.
Preparation of carbon black
The Brazil customers established a waste pyrolysis plant to recycle carbon black from waste tyres. The plant can deal with 7000t waste tires each year, and can recover 2100t carbon black, 2800t oil, 350t steel wire from waste tires. The pyrolysis carbon black has higher reinforcing property than that of the conventional carbon black. So the recovery carbon black is a new reinforcing agent, which can achieve a better economic benefit.
Preparation of activated carbon
The main residual carbon contents of waste tires: 80%-90% carbon black, 8%-12% inorganic compound (zinc sulfide), 3%-10% organic matter, and a small amount of rubber and fiber resin compounds and carbonized products. Firstly, crush the residue carbon and charcoal, and then mixed proportionally with the asphalt, kneaded and sent to the rotary charring furnace. Water vapor is introduced at 800～900℃ to activity. Finally we get activated carbon products. The activated carbon has high breaking strength and good decolorizing ability. The adsorption rate, regeneration performance, regeneration loss, and recovery of adsorbability are as same as the commercial products in the market.
