Scrap rubber, especially the scrap tire, has high value in use, which can provide a large number of renewable resources for the society. Though the waste rubber goods (including scrap tires) only account for less than 1% of the total amount of industrial solid waste, after regeneration treatment, it can provide about 10% production value for the material utilization department of environmental industry.
Waste tires are full of treasure. The contained 22%-24% nylon and other synthetic fiber can be processed for plastic products; 16%-18% steel wire is the raw material of high-quality spring steel; as high as 58%-60% rubber composition can be processed for useful reclaimed rubber and rubber powder of various grain sizes, which can be widely used in rubber, building materials, plastic, painting and other industrial circles. Scrap tires are also high-octane fuel materials, and it contains 27.59kj heat per kilogram, which can be used for industrial boiler and thermal power plants to produce electricity.
At present, scrap tires have various utilization methods. Firstly, the original shape can be directly used for other low speed cars or remade as fender, wave absorbing dam, buoy for the ports, highway traffic wall panel, road sign as well as mariculture fish reef, garden decoration, toys, playground?equipment, etc. Secondly, repair the tread wear and make retread tires for reusing. Thirdly, pulverize into reclaimed rubber or rubber powder mechanically and then used as industrial elastomer renewable materials. Fourthly, high temperature pyrolysis: extracting fuel oil, carbon black, steel wire and combustible gas from waste tires in high temperature heating. Fifthly, heat energy utilization. It can be used for generating electricity, used as fuel material for boiler, and used as heat energy fuel material and production material for steelworks.
